My mother hasn't necessarily had it easy, and I'm sure we 3 lovely children didn't always make it easier for her. But despite any and all of that, I believe she did a most beautiful job in raising us. I really am so blessed to have such a wonderful woman to call my mother and my friend.
Being that I'll begin that lovely adventure for myself this year, it's obviously got me thinking about it a lot more often and a lot more seriously. Growing up I always wanted children, no particular reason, just a desire that's always been deep in my heart. I've often heard people speak down a bit to house wives/stay at home mothers, as if they do nothing with their lives and that they must have lost out on hopes and dreams they had. The thought of wanting that life style and believing it to be meaningful, seems unimaginable to so many people. But I greatly respect these woman, I truly believe one of the greatest gifts and responsibilities we are given in this life is raising children. It is not easy, it is not boring, it is not meaningless and it is certainly not a waist of time. Of course it's also great to do other things and have other dreams, it's especially amazing to me when I see women who combine the two and do it well.
I'm not sure what my second dream is beyond being a wife and mother. I love languages, mostly in that I find them fascinating. But I guess the root of most things I enjoy is in some kind of design. What I love most is making life more beautiful, not just my life but anybodies life. If I look back on things I've done the things that were most fulfilling to me were always ones that made others lives in someway happier, easier, more enjoyable and just generally more beautiful.
My two favorite blogs ever are Love Taza and A Cup of Jo, I love reading them for their good days and bad. I love seeing how they make what could be hectic busy lives of mothers in the city and instead focus on the beauty of it all, and how they can make it better and better. I also enjoy reading it to remind myself that life is beautiful and amazing, and there is always something you can be glad about. If you've ever seen the film "Pollyanna" you may remember what the glad game is, and if you're any kind of normal person you probably also thought something along the lines of "ahuh right kid whatever you say" but by the end of the film that one little thing changed the hearts of everyone in that town, and it really did make a difference.
So remember to make life beautiful and always count your blessings!
