So, no actual recipes today, but I would love to talk about a versatile food which we love eating. SANDWICHES! I mean really who doesn't love sandwiches right? For me sandwiches always seemed to be mostly a lunch food, but my husband and I eat them for dinner quite often. It actually makes me feel quite lazy making sandwiches for dinner but Leon loves them and they're so easy and delicious. We eat mostly BLT's, Tuna salad and egg sandwiches, simply because that's the easiest thing to do around here. But there are oh so many more dreamy options to drool over.
My first real memory of any wondrous sandwichy delights was and Italian Hoagie Classic Philly style. I'm guessing I was 4 or 5, still small compared to the furniture around me. We were staying at a friends house, and all the kids had been sent to bed, I guess it was grown up time. Anyhow I had a bad dream and decided to go find my mommy. My mommy gave me some of her sandwich undoubtedly to keep me quiet, there were way to many kids to buy sandwiches for everyone. But I will never forget that first delicious bite! And I will never stop loving good Italian Hoagies!
Another well know Philly style sandwich would have to be cheese steak subs, though I think there are a lot of places you can get really good ones outside of philadelphia. And don't forget meatball sandwiches, those things are also quite delicious! I'm also a lover of grilled cheese, and quesadillas but being that those contain the dreaded cheese, I only eat them when it's just me. We do occasionally eat wraps but since I have to make my own tortillas I mostly use them for fajitas, which are another favorite with us.
Now although fast food sandwiches are a very different story that does not necessarily make them any less delicious! I love me a good Arby's roastbeef sandwich or a good burger any day! But by far the best ever has got to be ... Chick-fil-A. If you live in a part of the world that does not have Chick-fil-A you could try the below recipe, you know ... get an idea of what you are missing out on. Growing up it was an easy hours drive to any Chick-fil-A and being as they aren't open on Sundays (a fact I fully support) we didn't get to eat there much, but it was always the best of days when we did!
We recently had lunch at a friends house and when they heard we were going to be headed stateside in July one of their first questions to me was "Do you have Chick-fil-A!?" when I replied in the affirmative, they immediately instructed my husband that "You must eat Chick-fil-A, it is the best! Go to Chick-fil-A, order a number 1 and prepare to be amazed." It made us both laugh so hard, I've told my husband a million times the wonders of Chick-fil-A and how he absolutely must eat there, no buts, no exceptions, no nothing! It truly is amazing.
The sandwiches you see today are obviously not mine, but you can follow the links bellow the pictures to find some amazing delicious recipes! What are some of your favorite sandwiches? Well, here are a few more goodies hope you enjoy!
