I would like to start a new series called Food Friday's; it'll feature Cooking With Sticks & Baked in a Box. Living in China has changed how I prepare food, in so many ways.
Firstly in the baked goods department. I love baking but being that baking is a relatively new thing in Asia and there is almost no place for it in everyday life means that there are also no readily available proper ovens. This means all baking must be done in a toaster oven (aka, little mettle box), my mother is always amazed at the things I manage to bake in my box. But I know there are lots of people who either live in Asia, can't afford an oven, who have an oven that is broken or some other such difficulty and I'd love to share some of my recipes and methods to hopefully help some of you become more adventuress and innovative with your own little metal boxes.
My other series will be, as you may have guessed, about cooking Asian food. More specifically typical northern Chinese dishes, some Thai style and other random Asian cuisines. For these foods you will most likely need a wok but of course always feel free to try it with a large frying pan. Making food should always be about having fun and being creative.
